The Gift of Time You Have More Time Than You Think

February 10, 20252 min read

We always say, “I don’t have time.”

📌 No time to pray on time.

📌 No time to rest and recharge.

📌 No time to pursue our dreams.

📌 No time to nurture our relationships.

But the truth is, we have the same 24 hours as everyone else.

It’s not about having time—it’s about how we prioritise it.

Time Is a Divine Trust

In Islam, time is sacred.

Allah swears by time in the Qur’an:

"By time! Indeed, mankind is in loss—except those who believe, do good, and enjoin one another to truth and patience."(Surah Al-Asr, 103:1-3)

Time is a gift—one that can either be used consciously or wasted without realising.

The question is: What are we doing with it?

How We “Lose” Time Without Realising

⏳ Distractions – Social media, endless scrolling, mindless entertainment.

⏳ Overcommitting – Saying yes to everything, leaving no space for ourselves.

⏳ Procrastination – Waiting for the “perfect” moment instead of taking action now.

⏳ Dwelling on the Past – Replaying old stories instead of writing a new one.

⏳ Fear of Change – Staying stuck because moving forward feels uncertain.

We think we don’t have time—when in reality, we’re just not using it intentionally.

How to Reclaim Your Time & Energy

✨ 1. Prioritise Your Salah & Spiritual Connection

Your time is blessed when you put Allah first.

When you honour your prayers, dhikr, and reflection, everything else aligns effortlessly.

✨ 2. Simplify Your Life

Not everything requires your energy.

Be mindful of what drains you vs. what nourishes you.

✨ 3. Set Boundaries Without Guilt

You are allowed to say no to things that do not serve your purpose or peace.

✨ 4. Move from Consumption to Creation

Instead of consuming endless content, shift towards creating something meaningful.

• Write.

• Reflect.

• Build something that lasts.

✨ 5. Honour the Present Moment

The only time that truly exists is right now.

Stop waiting for the “right time”—your time is already here.

Rumi’s Wisdom

"Be like a river, constantly flowing, letting nothing hold you back."

You have time.

You just have to use it with intention.

Reflective Question:

What is one thing you can stop wasting time on—and one thing you will prioritise instead?
